I'm starting to notice a bit of a trend with this game now. The 'feature' which has Elika save you whenever you "die" which initially started off as making the game pointlessly easy has now actually become a crutch which the game excessively relies to even be possible to finish. Some of these segments have become extremely long and excessively trial and error based, to the point that if you couldn't retry an unlimited number of times, the game would be downright frustrating. Some of these later segments are just ridiculous, going for minutes at a time without touching the ground even once, and one tiny mistake or accidental button press means you have to do the entire sequence all over again.
In general, this game seems to rely on a lot of it's so called features which were claimed to make the game more casual friendly WAY too much.
The lack of a death penalty is literally required in later sections, because of how excessively lengthy some of them are, and trying to figure your way around the levels, since they all look almost exactly the same and have very little in the way of identifiable landmarks, not to mention the path through said levels is a bit of a random mess, that once again the GUIDE trail effect which they used from Dead Space, is literally required because the maps are complete nonsense. You pretty much have to consistently check your magical guide trail every 30 seconds or so or you can wind up getting completely lost. Overall, they've taken features from other games, which are used to help casual players and literally turned them into a crutch which the game heavily relies upon to a rather unnecessary extent.
Anyway, I finally finished the game, and the ending, while it made sense and couldn't really go any other way, quite literally made the ENTIRE game completely pointless as you made no progress whatsoever in the end. The only real storyline to the game is essentially the romance between Elika and the "Prince", other than that, nothing was actually accomplished and the entire thing went in a big loop. :|
As a whole, I was not very impressed with this game. It had some moments here and there which were cool as far as platforming goes, and the presentation was fairly pretty, but there's just nothing memorable about it that I would ever want to play it more than once.
